BANGKOK, Jan 29 (TNA) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is gearing up to welcome a global influx of tourists to the annual Chinese New Year festivities in Yaowarat, Bangkok’s bustling Chinatown, on January 29-30.
Celebrations this year are set to be particularly grand as they coincide with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China. The event aims to boost the local economy, and solidify Thailand’s position as a world-class tourist destination.
The TAT has transformed Yaowarat’s Dragon Street into a dazzling display of red and gold lights, themed “Ignite Your Senses Embrace Our Two Cultures”.
The iconic Royal Jubilee Gate is adorned with ornate red lanterns, creating a striking backdrop for photos and social media posts.
A new landmark, Chinatown Market Chalermburi, has opened its doors, offering a vibrant mix of food stalls, live music, and cultural exhibits. The market features two Chinese and Thai giant statues embracing, symbolizing the strong bond between the two nations.
Visitors can also explore a special exhibition celebrating the 50th anniversary of Thai-Chinese diplomatic relations.
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn is scheduled to grace the opening ceremony of the Yaowarat Chinese New Year Festival on January 29 at 5:00 PM. Her Royal Highness will tour the various booths and activities within the event.
The TAT and other government agencies have collaborated to create a festive atmosphere that will attract both local and international tourists. The event is expected to draw large crowds and generate significant economic benefits for the community. – 819 (TNA)
