BANGKOK, Nov 26 (TNA) – Le Quoc Minh, president of the Vietnam Journalists Association on Tuesday led a media delegation to meet with MCOT executives for discussions about the contemporary media landscape.
Minh, who is also editor-in-chief of Nhan Dan, Vietnam’s top newspaper, visited MCOT Public Company and met with Phatiyuth Jaiswang, MCOT’s Acting Director-General and Executive Vice President, Product Group.
Minh highlighted that traditional media platforms like television, newspapers, and radio are transforming due to technology, with online and social media more easily accessing news consumers. He expressed concern about fake news that could tarnish the reputation of both countries.
“Mainstream media must collaborate and leverage technology to disseminate accurate information,” Minh said. He proposed joint activities between Vietnamese and Thai media, including seminars, sports competitions, and language exchanges to foster closer ties. He invited MCOT to send executives to attend the seminar that the Vietnam Journalists Association will organize in March 2025.
Meanwhile, Phatiyuth noted that MCOT, a semi-state media organization with 72 years of history, is facing similar media disruption challenges as other global mainstream media outlets. He agreed with the President of the Vietnam Journalists Association regarding the importance of preserving mainstream media, addressing the issue of fake news, and fostering information exchange, collaborative activities, and mutual visits for the benefit of both parties.
