BANGKOK, Oct 11 (TNA) – Thai actress Min Pechaya Wattanamontri has publicly denied any involvement in the financial scandal surrounding the iCON Group, insisting that she was merely a paid presenter and public relations officer for the company.
Her address came after victims of alleged multi-level marketing (MLM) scheme on Thursday filed complaints with Thai authorities, accusing a well-known direct sales company and several celebrities of fraudulent activities.
In a tearful press conference, Min apologized to the victims of the alleged fraud and expressed shock at the turn of events. She clarified that she had been hired as a presenter and public relations officer, and that her role did not extend to being a shareholder or partner in the company.
Min revealed that she had been working with iCON Group for over a year and had checked the company’s registration status and product quality before signing on. She expressed regret for not conducting a more thorough investigation, and vowed to fully cooperate with any investigations into the matter.
The actress explained that she had been approached by the company’s CEO, Paul, to be the face of their products and to promote them on social media. She admitted to having used some of the products herself and speaking positively about them based on her personal experience and the scripts provided by the company.
However, she emphasized that she has never experienced any financial difficulties, and has never been involved in any illicit activities.
Min has terminated her contract with iCON Group and expressed her solidarity with the victims. She stated that she would be willing to cooperate with any government agencies investigating the case.
Her legal team has already sent a letter to iCON Group to terminate the contract, although there may be a financial penalty associated with the early termination. -819 (TNA)
