CHONBURI, Oct 11 (TNA) – “Moo Deng,” the beloved pygmy hippopotamus calf, has celebrated her third month with a health check revealing steady growth and development.
The zoo’s veterinary team conducted a comprehensive examination, weighing the young hippo at 32.7 kilograms, measuring 46 centimeters in height, and 87 centimeters in girth. These measurements indicate that Moo Deng is thriving and in excellent health.
The Khao Kheow Open Zoo’s social media page, “Kha Moo and the Gang,” shared a heartwarming photo of Moo Deng being weighed, playfully noting the calf’s significant weight gain since her first checkup.
Due to Moo Deng’s immense popularity, the zoo has implemented a timed viewing system to ensure all visitors have a chance to see her. Visitors are allowed five minutes per session, and the zoo requests that visitors remain quiet during viewing times. The early morning hours, before 8:00 AM, are recommended for the best viewing experience.
Moo Deng was born on July 10, 2024, to parents Jonah and Tony, and has quickly become an internet sensation. The zoo’s director, Narongwit Chotchoi, even updated his profile picture to a photo of Moo Deng, further fueling the public’s adoration for the tiny hippo. -819 (TNA)
