BANGKOK, Aug 7 (TNA) – An unexploded firebomb was discovered at a cloth shop in the Pratunam market in central Bangkok today.
The device, attached to a power bank charger for mobile phones was a similar type of those, used in the coordinated attacks in the capital last week.
Officials inspected the scene after the shop owner reported unknown power bank, found hidden under piles of clothes.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team said it was a firebomb, triggered by a timer and set to explode on Aug 2, the same day when a spate of bombings hit several locations across the capital.
However, the device failed to function properly. The police collected latent fingerprints for further investigation and checked CCTV camera footage in surrounding areas.
The newly –discovered firebomb is believed to be linked to firebomb incidents at six locations in Pratunam and Siam Square areas on Aug 2. (TNA)
