BANGKOK, April 13 (TNA) – Although the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration does not organise Songkran Festival officially this year, Silom Road has been closed from noon to midnight, starting today throughout Monday for water fights.
Bangrak District Officer said it believed many foreigners and Thais would celebrate this annual event by splashing water on each other.
For security reasons, the district office has joined hands with a nearby police station in setting up two major security points — at Saladaeng and Nara Rom intersections — and small security units at nearby alleys on the road.
Officials, manning the units will ensure that revelers would not carry alcoholic drinks, weapons, din so pong powder, high pressure water guns in the area.
They will also provide security to prevent pick-pocketing. (TNA)
