BANGKOK, March 22 (TNA) — The Finance Ministry will host the 23rd ASEAN Finance Ministers’ Meeting (AFMM) with the theme of “Advancing Partnership for Sustainability”.
Nattawut Thammasiri, director of the ministry’s International Economic Policy Bureau, said the meeting would be organized in Chiang Rai province on April 3-5, simultaneously with the 5th ASEAN Finance Ministers’ and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting (AFMGM).
The meetings will focus on connectivity, sustainability and immunity.
For connectivity, Mr Nattawut said, participants would focus on the integration of payment systems and services, the use of local currencies for product and service payment and investment, transnational electronic money transfers and the use of universal QR codes for payment in Southeast Asia.
For sustainability, ASEAN member states will support their financial sectors in responding to Sustainable Development Goals and promote access to financial services.
For immunity, participants in the meetings will discuss cybersecurity and joint efforts to regulate digital assets. (TNA)
