BANGKOK, March 14 (TNA) – Members of the National
Legislative Assembly (NLA) and parliamentary officials on Thursday joined a
cleanup activity at the parliament compound on U Thong Nai road before it is
returned to the Crown Property Bureau on Friday (March 15).
NLA president Pornpetch Wichitcholchai led the people to
clean the compound of the parliament. They wore yellow shirts as well as
volunteers’ caps and scarfs presented by His Majesty the King.
Before the cleanup, they paid respect to a portrait of His
Majesty the King and made a vow. Then they cleaned the ground and internal
roads and collected garbage.
NLA vice president Surachai Liengboonlertchai said the
cleanup was aimed at returning the clean parliament compound to the Crown
Property Bureau tomorrow. He also said the NLA would not convene anymore unless
the government proposed an urgent matter to it.
Mr Surachai admitted he felt a close bond with the
parliament compound because it was the venue of many important historical
incidents. (TNA)
