BANGKOK, Jan 21 (TNA) – A Canadian man and his Thai
accomplice have been arrested after attempting to smuggle over three kilograms
of heroin hidden in automobile shock absorbers to Australia.
Thai Police apprehended Stephens Blair, 38, and Pahon
Sivasirikaroon, 27, after they found a parcel at Suvarnabhumi Airport comprised
of eight shock absorbers with 3,740 gram of heroin hidden inside.
They later raided two apartments and a house in Bangkok and
seized assets and cash worth over Bt7.5 million.
Niyom Termsrisuk, Secretary of the Office of the Narcotics
Control Board, said Blair had entered Thailand several times as tourist since
2016 to use the country for smuggling drugs originated in the Golden Triangle
to Australia and Canada.
The suspects were just members of a major transnational
network, he said.
The arrests, however, would lead to identify all suspected
members of the drug gang.(TNA)
