BANGKOK, Dec 15 (TNA) — The officials of the Highways Department are ordered to clean highways, install proper traffic signs and cut tree branches to facilitate vehicle drivers as festive season is approaching and many holidaymakers plan to leave the capital for the long holiday.
Abhisit Phromsaen, deputy director-general of Highways Department, said in his capacity as chairman of a committee responsible for offering facilities and security during the upcoming X’Mas and New Year holidays that his department will launch a ‘Big Cleaning Week’ between December 20 – 26.
Agencies under the supervision of the Highways Department will dispatch their personnel and equipment to cut tree branches and to also install traffic signs on major highways and roads leading to tourism destinations nationwide, said Mr Abhisit.
The officials will also repair street lights to facilitate the motorists, he said.
Drivers are also requested to drive slowly, open front lights and to also wear safety belt while driving, said Mr Abhisit, adding that they must also follow instructions given by the officials. (TNA)
