CHIANGRAI, Dec 7 (TNA) – The police seized 15 million methamphetamine pills after a clash with three drug suspects in the northern province of Chiang Rai.
Acting on a tip-off, the police found the trio handing over the big lots of the illegal drug in Wiangchai district on Thursday night.
They opened gunfire at the police, leading to a clash. One drug suspect was killed and the rest could escape.
The police confiscated 75 sacks, containing 15 million methamphetamine pills, a gun, three pick-up trucks and two mobile phones.
The group was linked to the network of Anucha Phakit-udom, who was extra- judicially killed on Dec 4 in Chiang Rai’s Doi Luang district, the police said. About 6.1 million meth pills were seized.
In another incident in the southern province of Songkhla, the police raided a house in Hat Yai district and seized 400,000 meth pills and 10 kgs of crystal meth with the street value of 45 million baht.
Peerapat Saekuai was arrested. He confessed being hired by a major drug trafficker to transport the illegal drug from Bangkok. This lot of drug is stored at his house before sending to the drug network in Songkhla and three southern border provinces.
He said he did it twice and was paid 70,000 baht.
The police will expand investigation to arrest more suspects, involved in this transnational drug trafficking ring. (TNA)
