BANGKOK, Dec 26 (TNA) – The Office of Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) burned 10 tonnes of contaminated marijuana, seized from drug cases.
Justice Minister, Somsak Thepsuthin presided over the ceremony to incinerate the illegal drug at the Bang Pa-in Industrial estate in Ayutthaya.
The marijuana was found to be tainted with the large amount of heavy metal, pesticide and fungus and cannot be used for medical purposes or researches.
Wichai Chaiyamongkol, advisor to ONCB said that the agency had earlier hand over two tonnes of seized cannabis, upto the standard to ten organizations for production of medicinal cannabis and medical researches.
The incineration of the marijuana today was made in the closed system, which has no impact to the environment, he said. (TNA)
