MAHA SARAKHAM, DEC 6 (TNA) – A local Thai carmaker who turns
oil barrels into a cool 4-wheeler obtains a patent from Thai authorities.
Watcharapong Paphan first wanted to make use of old oil
barrels as his son’s toy but eventually created a unique 3-speed mini car.
The local resident of Maha Sarakham province in the
Northeast of Thailand used water pump and motorcycle engines to power the
vehicle. All of the parts are modified
from different models and types of vehicles to fit perfectly to the mini cars
that can go at top speed of 80 kilometers per hour.
He said he solely makes the custom-made from start to
finish.
Watcharapong completed a secondary school before being
employed as a mechanic in Lob Buri province, where he picked up his skills.
He has sold 14 cars to customers for Bt30,000 to
Bt40,000. Others who want to own one of
Watcharapong’s nice hade-made cars can place an order by paying a 50 percent deposit
and wait for about 30-40 days.(TNA)
