PHUKET, Nov 20 (TNA) – The salvaged Phoenix boat was brought to the Ratanachai dockyard and is heavily guarded by police and soldiers pending its examination to find out the cause of the boat tragedy five months ago.
Salvage officials carefully balanced the Phoenix boat and towed it to the dockyard last night. Police and soldiers guarded it well from the shore to the dockyard and blocked any outsider and journalist from approaching the boat and entering the dockyard because the boat was an important piece of evidence in relation to the death of 47 tourists when it capsized and sank near Koh Hei off Phuket province on July 5.
When the boat is raised, investigators and specialists will thoroughly check it to find out if it was correctly built.
The Phoenix shipwreck is fully covered with barnacles. Investigators and specialists will check concrete blocks earlier placed in the hull to keep its balance. (TNA)
