BANGKOK, Nov 5 (TNA) – Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha this morning presided over the official opening of the Ratchayothin underpass, which is expected to ease traffic congestion at one of Bangkok’s busiest areas.
Transport Minister, Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, Bangkok governor Pol Gen Aswin Kwanmuang and the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) governor Pakapong Sirikantaramas also attended the opening ceremony.
Gen Prayut said that the Ratchayothin underpass is another project that will relieve traffic congestion during the current construction of many electric railway lines.
The prime minister praised the MRTA for accelerating the underpass construction, which finished three months ahead of the schedule.
He said the government is determined to solve the traffic problems by developing the mass rapid transit network and the city public transport system to facilitate travelling from outer areas and suburbs to the city’s centre and to reduce the use of private vehicles. (TNA)
