BANGKOK, Oct 19 (TNA) — The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is bringing graffiti to its Wood Street under its project to paint walls along roads on a combined distance of 2,600 kilometers within next year.
Bangkok governor Aswin Khwanmuang launched the painting project on Pracha Naruemit Road, also known as Wood Street, in Bang Sue district.
He said the project was aimed at beautifying Bangkok and making it a good place to live. It covered 16 areas including Khao San Road, Phadung Krung Kasem Canal, Bamrung Muang Road, and Ong Ang Canal.
The project has been 40% completed. Paintings would cover main streets on a combined distance of 2,600 kilometers within next year, the Bangkok governor said.
Wood Street is 975 meters long and gathers outlets and factories of quality wooden products. Owners of 175 local buildings participate in the project.
The Faculty of Architecture at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang designed the paintings to show the characteristics of Wood Street and leading street and graffiti artists will realize them. The BMA expects the project to turn Wood Street to be a new tourist attraction. (TNA)
