BANGKOK, July 13 (TNA) — The president of the Federation of Thai Capital Organizations (FETCO) supports the establishment of an economic rehabilitation center to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
FETCO president Paiboon Nalintarangkul said he agreed with the private sector’s proposal for the government to set up the economic rehabilitation center like the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).
The government through the new center could gather economic information directly from various sources in the private sector that played important roles in driving the economy, he said.
In the post-COVID era, he said, jobs must be created to minimize the number of unemployed people and SMEs would need liquidity and capital.
“An economic rehabilitation center related to the COVID-19 pandemic is expected to have the prime minister as its chairman and gather opinions from the private sector. It is good to listen to the private sector because it plays important roles in driving the economy. It is like the CCSA where doctors share information to solve COVID-19,” Mr Paiboon said.
Thanavath Phonvichai, chief advisor to the Center for Economic and Business Forecasting of the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, said if the new center is formed, it will support economic solutions.
The CCSA worked successfully because the prime minister chaired it and organizations participated in relevant and swift solutions. It updated people daily on situations and prevented work duplication, Mr Thanavath said. The new center would ensure a common direction for economic solutions, he added. (TNA)
