BANGKOK, May 9 (TNA) – The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has sought approval from His Majesty the King
to organize Royal Rice Grains Blessing and Ploughing Ceremonies on May 10 and 11 to boost the morale of farmers in the country.
Anant
Suwannarat, permanent secretary of the ministry, said that the Royal
Rice Grains Blessing Ceremony would
be organized at the ordination hall of the Temple of the Emerald Buddha
in the Grand Palace on May 10 and the Royal Ploughing Ceremony was set
at the Chitralada Royal Villa on May 11. The venues of the ceremonies
were planned as the government is implementing
many measures to control the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.
His Majesty the King assigned Gen Surayud Chulanont, president of the Privy Council, to preside over both
ceremonies.
The annual ceremonies were aimed at boosting the morale of local farmers at the beginning of their annual
crop season. Normally the Brahmin Royal Ploughing Ceremony is organized at Sanam Luang ceremonial ground. (TNA)
