BANGKOK, March 26 (TNA) – Thailand’s first Covid-19 field
hospital opened its door for the first two coronavirus patients on Thursday.
Thammasat University has turned its DLUXX dormitory in the
Rangsit campus to a 308-bed facility for non-critical coronavirus patients from
five hospitals — Siriraj, Ramathibodi, Chulalongkorn, Vajira and
Thammasat.
It is aimed at alleviating congestions at those hospitals
after a recent jump in the number of patients.
The two patients who are recovering from coronavirus were
admitted at the hospital Thursday morning.
To show they were in high spirits, the two came out on balconies and
waved to the reporters.
Two more non-critical coronavirus patients will be admitted at
the field hospital Thursday afternoon.
Mental health counselling will also be given to the
patients.
Dr. Chatchai Mingmalailak, director of the field hospital,
said the facility could be expanded to 600-bed capacity.
The field facility only provides basic medical treatment
since it does not have an intensive care unit nor the equipment to handle
critical patients, he said. (TNA)
