BANGKOK, March 16 (TNA) — Chao Phraya Express Boat has introduced air-conditioned passenger boats for service in the Chao Phraya River.
Joining an event to introduce the Riva Express service, Deputy Transport Minister Atirat Ratanasate said the passenger boat service would be elevated and passengers could pay fares via their Rabbit cash cards. He promised that passenger boat services would be further improved and the movement would also cover boats in the Saen Saep canal.
Suphaphan Pichaironarongsongkram, chairperson of Chao Phraya Express Boat Co, said it would start to operate four Riva Express boats on May 18. They would ply between Nonthaburi province and Sathon area of Bangkok and stop over at eight piers.
The service hours were set from 6.20am to 8.30pm on weekdays. The boats would reach their piers every 20 minutes. The fare was set flat at 50 baht. It would be reduced to 30 baht in the first three months of operation, Ms Suphaphan said. (TNA)
