PHUKET, Dec 26 (TNA) – The Andaman coastal province of Phuket held multi-faith ceremonies to commemorate victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami on its 15th anniversary on Thursday.
Local authorities and the private sector hosted the event at the Mai Khao cemetery, attended by about 100 people.
Wreaths were laid at the memorial wall in remembrance of foreign victims from 45 countries.
The Mai Khao cemetery was used as the place to keep the bodies of unidentified victims.
At 5 p.m. today, the Patong municipality is scheduled to hold the memorial service at the Loma park on Patong beach.
Live music will be performed and a candlelight vigil will be organized with a moment of silence to be observed for 89 seconds.
It is expected that a large number of locals and tourists will participate in the activities. (TNA)
