BANGKOK, Dec 23 (TNA) – Ten ASEAN countries and China
concluded the ASEAN-China Year of Media Exchanges at an event in Bangkok on
Monday.
During their summit in 2018, ASEAN and China leaders
designated 2019 as the ASEAN-China Year of Media Exchanges. Throughout this year, they have engaged in
exchanges, cooperation and joint development in the media sector.
At the closing ceremony on Monday, Minister Attached to the
Prime Minister’s Office of Thailand Tewan Liptapallop, who presided over the
ceremony, said the media exchanges between both sides held great significance
to further strengthening mutual understanding and the long-standing friendship.
The Minister expressed his hope for greater ASEAN-China
media relations to foster friendly relations and mutually beneficial
cooperation for the peoples.
This area of cooperation also enhanced ASEAN master plan to
promote connectivity and would enhance mutual understanding, he said.
During the Year of Media Exchanges, ASEAN and China extended
communication between governments on media policies and issues; strengthened
cooperation on news coverage and materials, intensified media industry
cooperation in media technology research and development and encouraged
exchanges in education and training of media professionals.
Tewan also said Thailand sought greater cooperation with
leading media of China in order to provide news and information service of
Chinese people living in Thailand. (TNA)
