BUENG KAN, Dec 17 (TNA) – The Thai government has
promised to expand export market for latex products while implementing income
guarantee for rubber farmers.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Jurin Laksanawisit
visited a rubber pillow factory operated by a rubber farmer cooperative in the
northeastern Bueng Kan province on Tuesday.
He assured over 300 farmers that the government would
continue to promote local rubber producers.
Jurin has kept his election campaign promise and introduced
the income guarantee for rubber farmers who have suffered price slump for
years. The government has allocated budget to ensure their stable income.
Jurin also said the government would widen export markets to
countries such as India to help farmers.
He noted that Thailand and India recently signed an agreement to sell a
combined 100,000 tonnes of rubber worth 9 billion baht to Indian importers.
