BANGKOK, Dec 13 (TNA) – Thailand hosted the 7th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Minerals to promote the trade, investment and sustainable development of its mineral industry.
Industry Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit opened the meeting where ASEAN mineral ministers acknowledged the implementation of the first phase of the ASEAN Minerals Cooperation Action Plan III set during 2016 and 2020.
Besides, ASEAN mineral ministers discussed the important roles of the mineral industry in supporting regional economic growth and the importance of promoting trade and investment in the mineral industry of ASEAN.
The meeting also discussed the development of mineral databases, sustainable mineral development, human resources development related to the mineral industry and facilitation and obstacles concerning mineral trade and investment.
Mr Suriya said the mineral industry was an important factor for ASEAN development and he believed the meeting would help ASEAN cope well with global changes and challenges. (TNA)
