BANGKOK, Dec 4 (TNA) — The Transport Ministry has prepared several measures to facilitate traffic during the New Year holiday, including extended road safety supervision.
Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob said his officials would closely supervise traffic and vehicle safety and serve travelers during an extended period from Dec 26 to Jan 9 in order to ensure safety and conveniences for all New Year travelers.
Other measures would include the arrangement of sufficient public transport vehicles and services at bus terminals, exempted highway tolls to ensure traffic flows and traffic information reports via the hotline number 1356 of Transport Ministry around the clock, Mr Saksayam said.
The minister estimated that about 16 million people would be traveling on 8.6 million vehicles in the country during the New Year holiday. (TNA)
