BUSAN, Nov 25 (TNA) — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha met South Korean President Moon Jae-in and both sides agreed to expand bilateral cooperation on innovation and digital business among others.
Gen Prayut had a talk with the South Korean president at Westin Chosun Hotel in Busan. The meeting took place on the occasion of the 3rd ASEAN-Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit and the 1st Mekong-Republic of Korea Summit in Busan.
After the meeting, Thai government spokesperson Narumon Pinyosinwat said Gen Prayut praised South Korea for its support for ASEAN and cooperation under the frameworks of ASEAN and the Mekong sub-region.
The South Korean president said he was ready to expand cooperation with Thailand especially on economic development, human resources development and the network of ASEAN smart cities.
Both sides agreed to promote bilateral and multilateral cooperation in comprehensive areas including water management, infrastructures, the development of small and medium-scaled enterprises and start-ups, education and people connectivity.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Prayut also invited South Korea to invest in Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor, especially in the fields of electric vehicles, biotechnology, digital innovation and robotics in which South Korea excelled.
After the meeting, Gen Prayut and the South Korean president witnessed the signing of three bilateral memorandums of understanding for cooperation on science, business and industrial development and exchange of information on Thai labour export to South Korea. (TNA)
