BANGKOK, Nov 1 (TNA) — The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will organize the Loy Krathong festival on 7 locations. It will emphasize environment-friendly activities and expects spending worth about 2 billion baht.
TAT deputy governor Thapanee Kiatpaibul said TAT would celebrate the Loy Krathong festival in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Sukhothai, Tak, Ayutthaya, Samut Songkhram and Roi Et provinces.
TAT would encourage participants to use Krathong baskets made from natural materials without any plastic part and to lay only one Krathong basket per family, Ms Thapanee said.
She expected about 464,000 local and foreign tourists to celebrate the Loy Krathong festival on Nov 9-11 and about 2 billion baht would be spent during the period. (TNA)
