BANGKOK, Oct 29 (TNA) – The fourth Thai traditional medicine fair kicked off today at Wat Pho or Wat Phra Chetuphon Vimolmangklaram, the first Thai university and the center of the traditional Thai massage.
Marut Jirasetsiri, director-general of the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine said that the Thai Traditional Medicine Day falls on Oct 29 to commemorate King Rama III, the Father of traditional Thai medicine.
The ancient medical wisdom has been recorded in stone inscriptions at Wat Pho.
National traditional cannabis-infused formulas from Wat Pho’s inscriptions have been put on display.
These cannabis – derived products have been distributed to 26 hospitals for patients as alternative treatment. About 400 patients, who received the cannabis – based medicines responded well with satisfactory results.
Chaophraya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital in Prachin Buri province has exhibited a model, demonstrating marijuana cultivation at the fair and saplings of herbal plants are given away to visitors.
Thai traditional medical service and herbal medicine are offered at the event, which will run until November 3 from 9 am. to 5 pm. (TNA)
