BANGKOK, Oct 25 (TNA) – The government is fully ready to organize the 35th ASEAN Summit and related meetings on Nov 2-5. The official opening is set on Nov 3.
Government spokesperson Narumon Pinyosinwat said the government’s ASEAN Summit-organizing committee confirmed the readiness in its meeting today.
According to her, the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit will take place on Nov 2 when the Commerce Ministry will also exhibit ASEAN and Thai products.
The ASEAN Summit will be officially opened on Nov 3. On Nov 4 there will be ASEAN+3 Summit. National leaders who will attend the ASEAN Summit and related meetings will come from 10 Southeast Asian nations and seven dialogue partners including New Zealand, Australia, Japan, India and Russia.
The chairwoman of the International Monetary Fund and the secretary-general of the United Nations will also participate in the event. United States President Donald Trump has yet to confirm if he will join it.
The government spokeswoman said security measures for the event met international standard and Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha ordered relevant officials to facilitate and speed up the motorcades of national leaders to impress them. (TNA)
