CHIANG MAI, Oct 10 (TNA) – The temperatures in the upper
part of Thailand drop below 10 degree Celsius, giving a big boost to the
tourism industry.
The mercury at Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s highest peak in
Chiang Mai, dropped to 7 degrees Celsius Thursday morning. Tourists have flocked the peak in number,
Head of Doi Inthanon National Park Kritsiam Kongsatri said.
On Wednesday, a total of 1,900 visitors entered the National
Park, he said. The figure could go up to
2,500 over the weekend, he added.
People in upper Thailand have experienced rare cold weather
with strong winds since late last month as the country’s official winter
normally comes at the end of October.
Winter scenery at Phu Kradueng National Park and other
forest parks in Loei province has drawn large crowds of tourists and trekkers.
