NEW YORK, Sept 28 (TNA) – Thai Foreign Affairs Minister Don Pramudwinai has held talks with Kyaw Tint Swe, Myanmar’s minister for the Office of the State Counsellor, on the Rakhine issue, according to a Thai Foreign Affairs Ministry spokeswoman.
Both ministers held talks in New York on Friday on the sidelines of the 74th session of the U.N. General Assembly. In this regard, the Thai foreign minister discussed the situation in the Rakhine state and the problem about the displaced people with the Myanmar minister, said the spokeswoman.
It is hoped that the Myanmar minister would report about progress in solving the problems to the informal meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) ministers tomorrow.
The regional bloc supports the repatriation of displaced people in Rakhine through negotiation between Myanmar and Bangladesh, she said. (TNA)
