BANGKOK, Sept 18 (TNA) – Four men have been are caught
while smuggling over 500 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine to Bangkok.
Deputy police chief Pol General Chalermkiat Srivorakhan told
a press briefing on Wednesday that the drugs better known as ice was originated
in Myanmar and destined for a third country.
The four suspects were transporting the narcotic drugs on
two pickup trucks and arrested when they made a brief stop in Chai Nat, en
route to Bangkok.
One of the smugglers said they were hired by a drug ring in
Myanmar to deliver the batch to a drug dealer in the capital.
Pol General Chalermkiat said this group was linked to
another attempt to smuggle 2.3 million methamphetamine tablets a few weeks
ago.
Police intelligence also
suggested the gang planned to ship the drugs to the third country, he added. (TNA)
