BANGKOK, Sept 12 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has
reiterated his administration’s devotion on promotion of Thai people’s quality
of life as government agencies have launched a health promotion program for the
working-age population.
The premier on Thursday presided over the Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony on occupational safety and health promotion
program to enhance quality of life of workers.
The MoU signatories including the Ministry of the Interior,
the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Industry, the Bangkok
Metropolitan Administration (BMA), the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) and
the Private Hospital Association.
Under the agreement, the seven agencies will work together
on disease prevention and to reduce unwanted behavior that leads to chronic
illnesses among working-age citizens.
The Prime Minister said during the ceremony that his administration
was determined to improve people’s health as it was the foundation for
“happiness.” This MoU was a step
towards more initiatives for advancement of the quality of life, he said.
Gen Prayut also noted that the nation’s 51 million
working-age citizens should always be protected from illness which would help
reduce medical costs.
In addition to the MoU, the ceremony unveiled 10 health and
hygiene packages for workplaces with integrated efforts on disease prevention
among various agencies. (TNA)
