BANGKOK, Sept 2 (TNA) – Thai Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-ocha has received South Korean President Moon Jae-in and his spouse on the occasion of their official visit to Thailand as the guests of the Thai Government during Sept 1-3, the first visit of a South Korean President in 7 years.
Both leaders reviewed the military honor guards at the lawn outside the Thai Koo Fah building at Government House on Monday.
The aim of the President’s visit is to strengthen strategic partnership with Thailand according to the New Southern Policy (NSP) to promote interactions with each ASEAN member, and cooperation between South Korea and ASEAN, including Thailand as ASEAN chair.
After the bilateral meeting, the two leaders witnessed the signing of six agreements and memorandums of understanding. A joint press conference was held, followed by a luncheon, hosted by the Thai Prime Minister.
The official visit of South Korean President to Thailand would be a good opportunity for both countries to reinforce strategic partnership under Korea’s NSP and Thailand 4.0. Existing cordial relations and cooperation will be built upon in a tangible manner, both at bilateral, sub-regional, and regional levels. – (TNA)
