The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) expects the Songkran Festival this year will be lively after the full celebrations were cancelled in the past two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Numerous COVID-19 cases from entertainment places may force the government to review its disease control measures for the Sonkran festival, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.
The operations sub-committee of the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) did not support water splashing and the use of talcum powder during the Songkran festival, considering them as posing COVID-19 transmission risks.
