NARATHIWAT, Sept 1 (TNA) – Suspected insurgents launched a series of coordinated attacks across three southern border provinces, with bombs and arson targeting public infrastructure and businesses.
The attacks began late Sunday and continued into Monday morning, with incidents reported in Narathiwat, Pattani, and Yala.
In Narathiwat, they conducted six separate attacks in five districts. Two people sustained minor injuries and one car was damaged after a bomb exploded on a road in Sungai Padi.
Surveillance footage from a camera in the Chanae district showed six men in black carrying car tires and trash cans, arranging them along a road before pouring gasoline on them and setting them ablaze. This incident followed two bomb attacks near a mosque.
In Yala, insurgents set fire to car tires and shot at an electrical transformer on a major highway. Shortly after, bombs exploded at ATMs at two different PTT gas stations and a third ATM at a convenience store in the Muang and Kabang districts.
So far, no deaths or injuries have been reported from the incidents in Yala, but the attacks have caused widespread fear among residents. Officials have secured the areas and are awaiting EOD and forensic teams to gather evidence. The type of explosives used has not yet been confirmed.

In Pattani, an ATM at an Islamic bank branch was damaged by a bomb blast near a cosmetics store. No one was injured in the late-night attack. Authorities have cordoned off the area to allow explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) teams to investigate.
The attacks are believed to be the work of the same group that carried out the incidents in Narathiwat and Yala. – 819 (TNA)
