BANGKOK, Dec 14 (TNA) – The leaders of anti-industrial estate protesters from Songkhla province vowed to stay at Government House to wait for responses from the cabinet on Dec 14 on the industrial estate project in Chana district of the southern province.
Somboon Khamhaeng, a leader of the protesters against the Chana industrial estate project, said his group would wait there for the cabinet’s response to its request for the strategic environmental assessment of the project. He believed that the assessment would solve problems about the industrial estate project.
The protesters moved from their rally site in front of the United Nations complex on Ratchadamnoen Avenue to Government House at 4.30pm on Dec 13. Rally leaders took turns to announce problems related to the project.
Apart from the strategic environmental assessment of the project, the demonstrators also asked the cabinet to review all its resolutions concerning the project.
The protesters invited representatives of the UN and human rights organizations to observe their demonstration which continued peacefully. (TNA)
