BANGKOK, Aug 19 (TNA) – A group of young men attacked a 14-year-old boy at an anti-government demonstration site in Bangkok on Aug 16, according to Bangkok police.
Pol Maj Gen Piya Tavichai, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said the father of the 14-year-old victim filed a complaint with police who initially learned that the son was attacked by a group of teenagers. Police did not do it, he said.
Police already questioned the father and would interrogate the young victim and gather evidence including security camera footage to identify culprits, Pol Maj Gen Piya said.
He also said that the demonstrations led by the “thalufah” group at the Democracy Monument and Din Daeng intersection yesterday were illegal because protesters burnt properties and threw and shot fireworks at police.
Police had to end the rallies. A demonstrator was arrested.
Pol Maj Gen Piya identified the man as Thanadet Srisongkhram aka Mon Achiva. He was wanted under an arrest warrant for violating the executive decree on public administration in emergency situations and the communicable disease act. (TNA)
