BANGKOK, June 24 (TNA) – Leaders of the Ratsadorn Group and about 500 followers gathered at the Democracy Monument at 5am to remember the Siamese Revolution on June 24, 1932.
The demonstrators raised red banners with symbolic messages around the monument and lit candles. They read the first announcement of the Khana Ratsadon (People’s Party) that had launched the 1932 Revolution.
Ratsadorn Group co-leader Jatupat Boonpattararaksa then called off the rally and said they would resume their demonstration at 10am and walk to the parliament to demand the ouster of 250 senators and Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and a green light to the amendment of all sections in the constitution.
Police from the Samranrat station met the demonstrators at the Democracy Monument and warned them that they had not sought permission for the rally in advance and violated the executive decree on public administration in emergency situations and the Communicable Diseases Act. (TNA)
