YALA, June 11 (TNA) – The governor of the southern border province approved its communicable disease committee to suspend Fridays’ mass prayers and other gatherings at local mosques from June 10 to 30 to help contain COVID-19.
The governor issued the order and advised local Muslims to pray at home because COVID-19 outbreaks continued in the province. Those who violate the order will be considered as breaking the Communicable Diseases Act.
Over the past 24 hours, Yala logged as many as 42 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the province’s total infections to 454. The accumulated death toll related to the virus increased to five.
Thailand reported 27 more Covid-19 deaths on Friday and 2,290 new infections including 294 cases found in prisons. (TNA)
