PHUKET, April 22 (TNA) – Rapid tests for COVID-19 started and a female passenger from Bangkok was detected with COVID-19 at Phuket airport.
Rapid COVID-19 tests began at Phuket airport for visitors who have not received two doses of COVID-19 vaccine or do not have a COVID-free certificate within 72 hours before arrival. The tests are free for Thais and charge 500 baht for foreigners.
The visitors who test positive must be brought to hospital right away. Those who test negative can tour Phuket without 14-day quarantine. The female doctor who tested positive at the airport was admitted to Patong Hospital.
Phuket airport general manager Thanee Chuangchoo said the rapid testing process was smooth except for the visitors who had not filled in forms airlines had distributed in advance.
Dr Darunee Budin, medical director of Phuket airport, said a visitor normally waited about 40 minutes for the result of a rapid test. (TNA)
