CHANTHABURI, Jan 5 (TNA) – A field hospital was set up at the navy’s Training Ground No. 16 in Khao Kitchakut district to treat COVID-19 patients of this eastern province and nearby areas.
The Royal Thai Marine Corps turned six ERC buildings in the training ground into the field hospital with 220 beds. The first group of 17 patients who had mild symptoms was admitted on Jan 4.
The navy set up the field hospital to help the Public Health Ministry treat patients from Chanthaburi, Chon Buri and Rayong in case that local hospitals can be overloaded. If any patients develop severe symptoms, they will be moved to established hospitals right away.
The navy assures that the field hospital is safe for local residents.
Chanthaburi logged 27 new cases of COVID-19 patients over the past 24 hours. They included 22 people who were detected through active testing.
Its accumulated COVID-19 cases rose to 149, most of whom had been in close contact with previously confirmed cases. (TNA)
