UTTARADIT, Jan 20 (TNA) – Four persons were killed and one remains missing after a passenger boat capsized in the reservoir at Sirikit dam.
Survivors, rescued after the accident said the boat left Huay Ta village, carrying 10 passengers and agricultural goods to the shore at Tha Ruea village.
The boat crashed into a tree stump on the way and overturned in the middle of the reservoir.
Six persons, including a nine-year-old girl were rescued. The bodies of four persons, including the boat driver were recovered.
Uttaradit governor rushed to the scene and ordered more boats, deployed to support the search operation for the missing person.
The accident happened as the water level in the reservoir has dropped due to the ongoing drought and it may cause the tree stump to emerge from water. (TNA)
