KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 (TNA) – Thailand’s Prime Minister is attending the 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, advocating for stronger regional economic integration and new free trade agreements to navigate a volatile global economy.
Hosted by Malaysia under the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” the summit brings together leaders from nine ASEAN nations, along with the ASEAN Secretary-General and Timor-Leste’s Prime Minister.
In her address, the Thai leader stressed the need for ASEAN to re-evaluate strategies to counter global economic shifts, including U.S. tariffs, through deeper cooperation and the exploration of new FTAs.
She emphasized Thailand’s support for a transparent, free, and fair multilateral trading system, pushing for the completion of the Digital Economy Framework Agreement by 2025 to unlock new growth and improve the quality of life for ASEAN citizens. -819 (TNA)
