BANGKOK, Sept 3 (TNA) – Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra on Monday revealed that the Cabinet lineup is now finalized, and she herself decided who will hold each position. She expects the list to be submitted for royal endorsement this week.
Paetongtarn arrived at the Shinawatra Building 3, a temporary Pheu Thai Party office around 11:40 a.m. with a cheerful demeanor, greeting the media. When asked about the progress on Cabinet formation, she said the process is complete, and she just needs to discuss the next steps with the Prime Minister’s Secretary-General, Dr. Prommin Lertsuridej, as this is her first time doing it.
Asked on when the list can be submitted for royal endorsement, Paetongtarn said she is trying to do it as soon as possible, and it could happen within this week. She confirmed that all issues regarding the qualifications of the candidates have been addressed.
Prior to Paetongtarn’s arrival, former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra was reported to have entered the building through the basement, avoiding the media gathered outside.
Meanwhile, Chusak Sirinin, the Deputy Leader of the Pheu Thai Party, said the qualification checks are still ongoing. The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has received the list and sent it back to the working group for further consideration. Chusak said that as long as there is no final ruling on any wrongdoing, the candidates should be presumed innocent, otherwise the country cannot move forward.
Latest reports indicate that the Council of State has completed the qualification review and sent the list back to the Prime Minister’s Office. The Prime Minister is now considering the positions and preparing to submit the list for royal endorsement. -819 (TNA)
