SAMUT PRAKAN, June 6 (TNA) – In a shocking incident that has outraged animal lovers, Watchdog Thailand has filed a police report against the owner of a Siberian Husky for animal cruelty.
The incident came to light after a video surfaced online showing the owner pouring hot water on the dog, named Lek, as punishment for eating some treats without permission. The video, which was filmed a month ago, shows Lek in severe pain as the hot water scalds her back.
Lek’s new owner, who lives in Nakhon Ratchasima province, took her to the vet after noticing the burns. The vet said that Lek was also pregnant at the time of the attack, but thankfully, her puppies are unharmed.
Watchdog Thailand representative Rattiya Thiewtrakul has filed a complaint against the dog’s former owner under the Prevention and Welfare of Animals Act. The law states that anyone who abuses an animal can face up to two years in prison and a 40,000 baht fine.
“I received additional information from well-wishers who revealed the identity of the owner. Today, we came to file a report on animal cruelty. We met with the SOS Foundation, which will also be filing a report on this matte, she said.
Lek is now recovering from her injuries. Rattiya urged people who are considering getting a Siberian Husky to do their research and make sure they are prepared for the breed’s strong-willed nature.
According to Kitiwat Piyawatnakul, a dog rescuer, the perpetrator poured hot water on a dog while filming the act. This cruel act was allegedly motivated by a personal dispute, as the perpetrator attempted to spite their boyfriend by harming the animal. When the boyfriend did not respond as intended, the video was then sent to their friend. The boyfriend, upon witnessing the abuse, was reportedly shocked by the incident.
The dog’s former owner has apologized for her actions, saying that she was under stress at the time and “lost her mind.” However, she has denied knowing that Lek was pregnant at the time of the attack.
The case is now under investigation by the police. -819 (TNA)
