BANGKOK, Nov 21 (TNA) – The Pink Line monorail services are now available for all 30 stations from Nonthaburi Government Complex to Min Buri, starting today from 3:00 PM.
On November 21, the Pink Line is offering the public a chance to try its services for free at all stations from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM and runs every 10 minutes.
From November 22 to December 3, it will operate from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, every 10 minutes.
The 34.5-km monorail line, operated by the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand connects Min Buri in eastern Bangkok to Khai Rai in Nonthaburi, passing Chaengwattana Road and Ramintra Road.
It is the second monorail system in Bangkok after the Yellow Line linking Lat Phrao and Samrong was launched earlier this year.
The prime minister, cabinet members, executives of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand and Keeree Kanjanapas, Director of the Northern Bangkok Monorail Company Limited, granted concession to operate the Pink Line joined the trial run today.
The Pink Line stands out as a feeder line, linking people in Nonthaburi to other main electric railway systems in the capital. These connecting stations include the Nonthaburi Government Complex station, linking with the MRT Purple Line; the Lak Si station, connecting with the SRT Red Line suburban railway system; the Wat Phra Sri Mahathat station, linking with the Green Line; the Wacharapol station, connecting with the future Gray Line; and the Min Buri station, connecting with the Orange Line.
In terms of passenger capacity, there are electric trains providing services in the system, including backup trains, totaling 42 trains. In the initial phase, each train will operate with 4 cars, capable of transporting approximately 17,000 passengers per hour in each direction. In the future, as the number of passengers increases, the capacity can be increased to a maximum of 7 cars per train, accommodating up to 28,000 passengers per hour in each direction when operating with a frequency of 2 minutes.
