CHONBURI, Sept 27 (TNA) – Rescue workers have not found the body of a Russian man who was struck by a speedboat while swimming off Koh Larn with his Thai girlfriend.
The tragic incident occurred on September 25. The body of his 20-year-old girlfriend, identified as Ms. Narada was retrieved from the sea. She had several wounds from the boat’s propellers.
The male foreigner remains missing, despite efforts by a local diving rescue team from the Pattaya Rescue Foundation, who searched for over three hours before suspending their operation due to unfavorable weather conditions.
The rescue team’s efforts were coordinated with the Marine Department to provide information to various boat operators and nearby fishing groups, so they can assist in the observation and search for the body of this Russian tourist.
Following this incident, community leaders are urging officials to establish clear swimming boundaries in the waters near Koh Larn.
Currently, there are no distinct markings or designated areas for tourists to swim safely in the sea. Instead, only simple boat signs constructed by the local community serve as vague warnings. Community leaders are calling upon Pattaya city officials to take immediate action and inspect the area, as previous requests for enhanced safety measures have gone unanswered.
Additionally, they call for regular sea patrols by rescue teams to ensure the safety of tourists in the area and prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. (TNA)
