BANGKOK, Aug 19 (TNA) – The spokesman of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters said the chief of defence forces acknowledged the reports that a former female military officer was brutally assaulted by a woman who claimed she was a senator’s wife and officials concerned were investigating the case.
The female soldier served as a maid of her alleged abuser, who is a police corporal.
Lt Gen Teerapong Pattamasing Na Ayutthaya, the spokesman, said Gen Chalermpol Srisawat, chief of defence forces, was aware of the reports and according to an initial investigation, the former female military officer already resigned from the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters to take care of her ill parents. The resignation was approved on May 6.
“Details in the case are under investigation and will be revealed later. The Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters assures it will investigate the matter with transparency to answer all questions from society,” said the spokesman who is also the director of joint civil affairs.
The victim has already met police for questioning, said deputy police spokesman Pol Col Kritsana PattanacharoenPolice were waiting for the results of her physical examination. The national police chief ordered officers concerned to base their investigation on witnesses and evidence and ensure justice for all parties, he added. (TNA)
