BANGKOK, Sept 13 (TNA) – The Meteorological Department predicted heavy rains and warned of possible floods and runoffs in most parts of the country.
The warnings went to parts of the Northeast, the North, the East and the western coast of the South. The department advised local people to prepare themselves for heavy downpours which it said could cause flash floods and runoffs.
Winds will be strong and waves will be 2-3 meters high in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea. Waves will be about two meters high in the upper part of the Gulf of Thailand. The department recommended boat operators take precautions and avoid areas of thunderstorms. Small boats should be kept ashore until Sept 14.
Meanwhile, Depression Conson near Quang Ngai province of Vietnam was likely to weaken, become a low-pressure area and caused heavy rains in some parts of the Northeast.
The Royal Irrigation Department reported as of Sept 12, the flood situations continued in 11 provinces including Lamphun, Sukhothai, Khamphaeng Phet, Loei, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Prachinburi, Rayong, Phetchabun, Samut Prakan and Nakhon Si Thammarat. (TNA)
